Droopy Septum

Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.

I was in a dead stare. Concentrating on nothing but the grain of the wood floors and waiting for the coffee to gurgle. The new Droopy Septum EPHowling Lands, Whispering Leaves was playing in the background. A great combination, thoughts of nothing while listening to sounds that don’t accurately describe anything. Though they are all familiar noises/sounds (that remind me of everyday activities such as vacuuming, sitting, walking, and staring), they are detached from the environments. Without having the environment for reference, I am left to imagine fields of static hums and locusts, wind, trees, gravel, water, frost, lawnmowers, sounds of building things, cars turning over, generators idling, crickets, etc….but all of these sounds wrapped into one solo representation. At times the noises begin to feel repetitious, but then another layer of something kind of creeps out of the dark like a pedophile to destroy any evidence of pattern. Anyways, this is one of the better albums I’ve heard in a long time. Every kid should haggle their parents for the modest donation of 6 or 8 bucks. And any responsible person should have one for their own. Keep up the good work Ryan.

iI haven't listened to the disc you burnt me yet but from what you've wrote and the way you describe it, it sounds like what i call 'washing machine music'. a great example of that is the long drone track at the end of the most recent wilco album "a ghost is born", called 'less than you think', if you have that one you should check it out.
